Unveiling the Podcasting Wizardry: ChatGPT, Show Notes, and Beyond
In this episode, I wanted to give you a peek behind the curtain of my podcasting journey. While it's only day 92 of my sobriety, I've been in and out of podcasting since 2011, and I've learned a lot along the way.
I've recently started using ChatGPT as a tool in my podcasting workflow, and it's been a game-changer. I use it to help me write my show notes and episode titles. Here's how it works:
First, I use a tool called Whisper, an open-source project by OpenAI, to transcribe my podcast episodes. Whisper is incredibly accurate, and I've found it to be the best transcription tool I've used so far.
Once I have the transcript, I copy and paste it into ChatGPT, which I access as a web app on my Mac Mini. I instruct ChatGPT to create show notes in the first person using the transcript as a reference. It generates a summary of the episode, which I can then review and edit as needed.
I also use ChatGPT to create podcast episode titles based on the show notes it generates. This process has not only saved me time but has also ensured that my show notes and titles accurately reflect the content of my episodes.
The reason I've embraced this approach is that, as I get older, my memory isn't what it used to be. I've found that having detailed show notes helps me remember what I talked about during the episode, especially for free-form discussions like this one.
